How to use Khata Book App: Step-by-step beginner’s guide

How to Install Khata Book

Before learning How to use Khata Book, the first step is to install the Khata Book from the play store or the App store. As I specified earlier, the app is totally free and only needs a phone number to sign up.

How to Install Khata Book:

  1. Install the Khata Book App from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iPhones).
  2. Start the app and accept the asked permissions.
  3. Enter your phone number and hit Confirm.
  4. Enter the verification code obtained via SMS (Khata Book may do this automatically).

That’s all, you have successfully installed and you are ready to add any of your contacts as participants to your business. But before adding participants, you need to add a business name to your new business so that you won’t mess with various customers of your other businesses.

How to Setup your Khata Book Profile.

Before starting to add participants into your Kathabook app, there is one more thing you should do to get the best out of the Khata Book. Creating a good profile makes it easy for the customers to get to know you when you send automatic SMS reminders. You can add your photo, name, business name, and even your mobile number into your profile.

How to set up your Khata Book Profile:

  1. Tap on the More option from the Lower Right Corner.
  2. Tap On the Edit Option on top of the screen.
  3. To change your picture, tap the camera icon and select a photo.
  4. For changing your name, type your name on the Your Name option.
  5. To change your business name, type it in the box below the Business Name Option.
  6. For changing your Phone Number, type it in the box below the Registered Phone Number Option.

While changing your phone number from this screen, the process is the same as when you initially set up your account. It will send a verification code via SMS, and once confirmed You will have full control over your account to add participants.

How to Add Participants

Now that you have successfully set up your profile, it’s time to get to the task at hand: Adding Participants! For the initial time you open the app you won’t have any participants listed, but you can add a new participant by tapping on the Add Customer in the bottom right.

Clicking on add customers will bring you to a place where all of your saved contacts are listed. So, you have to make sure that you have saved the phone number of your customer. From there, simply select the contact you want to add as a participant from the list. In my case, its Mukesh and clicking on his number have successfully added him as my participant.

After adding the participant, you can record every transaction record here. You can note the amount of money he/she has to pay to you and you can automatically send SMS reminders to them. This is one of the important features that you need to know if you are trying to learn how to use the Khata Book app.

You can also set Automatic SMS reminders for Multiple Participants to remind them.

To start the record of payments of a participant, just click on his profile after adding him. From there you can see some options provided by Katha Book that will help you to manage your business. Out of which the main two options provided are to record the money you gave and the money you got.

How To Use Records On Katha Book

Katha Book has a clean user interface for noting down the transaction. One good thing while recording the transaction is that only you and your participant can see the entries. Whenever you have added a participant you can actually see the list right from your Katha Book dashboard.

From the list of Participants click on the participant to which you need to record any kind of transaction. From there you can see two options on the bottom of the screen. You can choose between the Money You Gave and Money You Got on according to your preference.

In both the option, you will get a simple number pad where you can enter the amount. One good thing about this feature is that you can actually attach a bill in picture format. You can even create and share your business card with your customers in Katha Book.

How Use Katha Book App for Recording the Transactions:

  1. Open a Katha Book Participant window.
  2. Tap the Participant from the list.
  3. Select choose between the Money You Gave and Money You Got at the bottom of the screen.
  4. (Optional) Tap the Camera icon to attach any Bills.
  5. Set the Amount and press Save.

How to Create And Share Business Card In Katha Book

One of the useful features available in Katha Book is to create your own business card and you can also share them with your friend or to your particular participant. There are many templates available in the app which you can use as a layout for your new business card. You don’t need to have any sort of designing knowledge, you can create a new masterpiece if you have good taste in things.

To create a new layout go to More Options from the main page. From the list of options find the Business Card option and just select it. This will open a new pop up window from where you can select your Business card Template. On selecting your favorite one, you will be taken to a classic photo editing interface from where you can change the logo and other information.

You can share your final business card by either downloading it into your Device which is more convenient or just head over to any of your participants and select Share Business card options from the top options menu.

How To Use Katha Book App For creating Business Card:

  1. Open the more options from the bottom of the screen.
  2. Click on Business Card to create one.
  3. Select your favorite template and click Edit.
  4. Change the Logo and other pieces of information.
  5. Click on download and just share it with your friends.
